You don't need to start again from Iron Man. If you've already seen part of the series, mark those films first and use the remaining titles to plan what comes next.

Release order or chronological order?

Release order follows the sequence in which the films reached cinemas. Story chronology follows when events take place inside the fictional universe. They are different ways of approaching the same films.

For a first watch, release order is our suggested starting point: it preserves the sequence of character introductions and reveals as audiences originally encountered them. If you're revisiting the films, you can choose a different order and still use your checklist to track what you've seen.

This page uses release order. It doesn't present a separate chronological timeline.

MCU movies, rather than every Marvel adaptation

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a connected film universe. Not every film based on a Marvel comic belongs in this checklist. Keeping the scope clear makes your progress more useful than combining unrelated adaptations into one total.

This is a movie checklist. Television seasons, animated series, short films and specials are not counted as feature films here. Announced films are kept separate from the released titles you can work through.
